Highlights Booklet

For those who have had difficulty downloading the "Highlights" booklet from our main web site, here's an option that may help. The problem has been getting it into a file size that's not so huge. The best I can do is get it to 3.8 MB in a compressed "zip" file format. Once you download it, then double-click it to uncompress it into it's PDF format. (Click the link below to download a copy.)

Within the first 3 weeks that our site was up a cousin from Australia conntacted us and has been sending new and updated information on the Weakley lines.  I have recieved a letter from one of my Sloan cousins that mother and I met, shared time and built wonderful memories that I still treasure. Another lady, on the Staker lines, typed in Google her dead husband's name and up came our web site.  Now I have e-mail from her, her daughter and a friend.  It's trully a Small Small World.

Smart Idea, Business Cards

Mom and I were talking the other day, she was telling me of all the people she has told about the Lyons web site. She mentioned that she had to write out all the information for each person.  To save her from all that writing Robert and I made up a  business card so she can pass out the information and make it easier to share.  Here's our combined effort, I did the watercolor of the Lyons, and Robert put the words in place.

Daily Blessings

I want to take a moment and express my appreciation and amazement to the wonderful women I call Mother, Geraldine Lyons. We were able to go to spend the night at Leroys the night of the 15th of June so we could attend the Lyons cousins reunion on the 16th. Mom has some family history stored at Leroys, so she went through and picked out 3 boxes to bring home with us.  We arrived home Sat. evening and since then, in 3 days Mom has entered in about 800 names and 250 families on the Lyons History website. We feel angels around us encouging, prompting this work to progress.

Cousins at Picnic
Mom and I had a safe trip home from the Picnic in the Park for the Cousins get together on the 16 of June.  We had a wonderful time and hope to do this again.  I know this ment a lot to mom to be in touch with family that she hasn't seen for a long time.  I was able to meet wonderful people who are my family.  May we all realize the blessing it is to be connected as a family, you are all amazing!

Steps

Sometimes it seems like I take two steps forward then one step back.  I am learning this wonderful program to assist me in organizing and finding my ancestors.  I am so excited about all the helpful articles that Leroy has entered into this Blog site.  I am also very grateful for all the support of all my family in these learning and growing steps that I am in right now.  These steps are important before any research can be done.

Importance of Family History

I've finally been able to log into the site and think it is wonderful. I love seeing the excitement in my mother and daughter, even though there are tears of frustration at times there are things that bring back the happiness and joy. My home has been blessed by wonderful spirits who guide my mom in her work. I do what I can, but she puts everything into it. I am truly blessed because of my mother. Thank you.

Research Log Reminders

The research log reminders form is an important tool for anyone working on a fact-finding task for ancestors of the George Emery LYONS Sr. or Ruth Hazel SAINSBURY lines. It allows you to pick up and put down research. Each time you fill it out and click the Submit Button, it logs an entry into a spreadsheet on the Google Docs area of glyonshistory@gmail.com.

Research Checklist

Research Checklist

This is a list of possible records and places to search for any of our ancestors or descendants of George Emery Lyons Sr. and Ruth Hazel Sainsbury. This is not an all-inclusive list, but provide ideas to help you move in the right direction. Always remember that most research involves the gathering of many puzzle pieces or clues (usually small clues) which eventually can be pieced together to solve the larger picture.
